Jens Peder Hart Hansen Memorial Fund

Advancing circumpolar health by supporting the next generation of researchers and practitioners.

The Fund focuses on mentorship, opportunity, and early-career support, particularly for Indigenous and emerging health workers across circumpolar regions.

AWARD SELECTION PROCESS

Each adhering body nominates 1-3 emerging health workers
Nominees submit a brief abstract or project description
Recipients are selected based on merit and local criteria
Final approval is provided by the JPHHMF Subcommittee
Awards are given on a three-year cycle, aligned with the International Congress on Circumpolar Health (ICCH).

FUNDING DETAILS

Funds are distributed every three years to adhering bodies
Funding may be supplemented locally
ICCH registration is waived when recipients present at the Congress

Fund Management & Oversight

Professionally managed by the Alaska Community Foundation in cooperation with the Arctic Health Foundation
Guided by a low-risk investment strategy
Governed by the IUCH JPHHMF Subcommittee, with representation from:
  • Each adhering body
  • The Jens Peder Hart Hansen family
Private donations directly support scholarships, mentoring, and research development in circumpolar health.
