Biography

Tom has dedicated his career to understanding and preventing infectious diseases in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions. During his 25 years at the CDC, he led the Arctic Investigations Program in Anchorage and collaborated with partners across federal agencies and circumpolar nations. He helped guide U.S. Arctic research policy, supported pandemic response efforts, and contributed science-based guidance to universities and communities during COVID-19.

A frequent presenter at circumpolar congresses, Tom has helped advance knowledge sharing and public health practice across northern regions.

Outside of Work

Tom continues mentoring and supporting research collaborations focused on Arctic health challenges.
