Annual Meeting

The 2025 ASCH Annual Meeting was a great success. With over 50 participants between 'in person' and online attendance, the group explored many different topics and trends for the future.

The ASCH Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium was held March 21, 2025 on the UAA Campus and by Zoom. The theme was climate change and health. There were also ‘Flash Presentations’ on a wide variety of topics and discussion sessions. The Emerging Health Care Worker award was presented to Megan McIImail, UAA MSW Program, won the Arctic Health Emerging Professional Award. Sarah J. Kim from West High School won a new category for High School students.

ICCH18

The Canadian Society for Circumpolar Health organized a well-run and thoughtful conference for vetting scientific learning while networking among colleagues – some from across the globe and some from right next door. Halifax was a great venue, and the surrounding city was a picturesque maritime setting.

There were over 300 participants with nearly 200 presentations. The ASCH had a side meeting with 25+ participants. It was good to see old friends, plus lots of new faces. There were also rooms set aside for Working Group meetings. One of the Keynote Speakers was our very own Vanessa Hiratsuka.

Abbie Willeto and Emily Maxwell were present to receive well deserved the Hildes Medal and the Jens Peder Hart Hansen Award, respectively.

In short, those lucky enough to attend ICCH18 had a great time, and it will be a tough act to follow.
